By this model's hooked design which grabs and holds your chain around the ring when riding without slowing down release at the appropriate point, this creates outstanding chain retention and also eliminates the need for a chain guide.

When combined with a Kore MegaRange cassette sprocket adaptor sold separately, you can change your 2x10 set-up into a 1x10 set-up, 

which gives you a wide 1x10 gear range and eliminates the need for a front derailleur, front shifter, cable and inner chainring. A benefit of this is the substantial weight saving on your bike and at a lower cost than a 1x11 set-up.
